Fantasia Review "Yummy" is a Satisfying Meal for Zombie Fans

Updated: Mar 2, 2021

A solid addition to the zombie sub-genre that's already streaming on Shudder.

"Yummy" is the reason why you shouldn't get plastic surgery at a shady hospital that looks like it's straight out of "Hostel." Lars Damoiseaux's film follows Michael (Bart Hollanders), his girlfriend Alison (Maaike Neuville) and her mother Sylvia (Annick Christiaens) who visit a questionable plastic surgery facility somewhere in Eastern Europe.

Even before zombies are discovered in the basement, red flags are aplenty including a sleazy doctor (Eric Godon) whose pre-surgery routine includes sexually harassing his patient Alison. Seconds before she's given anesthesia for a breast reduction surgery, Michael bursts into the room in what would be the last right thing he does all day. After that, it's all downhill for Michael whose hemophobia (fear of blood) is inconvenient when the zombie apocalypse hits.

"You were right. There's nothing wrong with an F-cup" says Alison to an injured Michael (pictured above). While "Yummy" follows every sub-genre trope, it also never takes itself too seriously and you shouldn't either. For fans of zombie films, "Yummy" is an entertaining addition with a cast that also includes Benjamin Ramon, Clara Cleymans, Tom Audenaert and Taeke Nicolai.

"Yummy" is currently streaming on Shudder.
